Cat No:133

1914-24 'SAMOA.' Overprints on New Zealand QV Postal Fiscals £2 bright violet Scott #126 marginal example from the right of the sheet, unmounted, Cat $US400. Pristine! [Four mounted mint examples - various printings - offered in the Prestige auction of 12.2.2010 sold for an average of $694] Previously listed as SG 133 but the current footnote states "We no longer list the £2 value as it is doubtful this was used for postal purposes". This is simply incorrect: Prestige has sold at least three postally used examples. By this reasoning, hundreds of British Empire high value stamps should be delisted. Perversely, Samoa SG 175 & 176 are listed but unpriced used!
