APPEALING RUSSIA COLLECTION. very interesting "collector's collection" housed in an album beginning with the scarce 1858/64 unwatermarked inc perf 12½ #9 20K and similarly #10 30k, followed by 1865s perf 14½x15, values to 30k with a good range of postmarks, then 1866 again values to 30k on horiziontally laid paper, through 1875s to 30k and in each and every instance of these different years, minor duplication of virtually all denominations to the 30k. There is also a good album page of 1866/75 definitives, again with values to 30kop, however on vertically laid paper. Then all mint complete series of eight of the 1883/1888 Scott #31-38 and then a beat up used #39 but a good example of #40 high values, the collection unfolds with further defins with thunderbolts, turn of the century with impressive large multiple 7r mint, through to Russo-Japanese War with perf varieties, more defins 1909/12, then 1912/18 mint, through to the imperfs 1918 complete, including various errors with missing vanish lines, spectacular looking paper folds, offsets, misplaced frames, misplaced centeres inc pairs, etc. Also present 1913 Romanov complete, mint as well the 1914/15 war charity issues, again with an excellent study of the perfs, leading on to the inverted overprints 1916/17 surcharge, currency stamps mint and used to 20 kop with a scarce vertical imperf pair of #106a on piece, followed by the 116/17 currency stamps, on to post revolutionary issues of 1921 on pelure, cartridge and chalk surfaced papers, then the large postal savings stamps inc both types of #PF2-3 , used #PF-8 through to the 4th anniversary of the October revolution inc the elusive 200rb not regularly issued. Then an extensive study of the papers of the Volga types, through to the 1922 surcharges, in depth, again with inverted o/ps, different papers, watermarks, etc. Also present, 1922/23 pentagon star o/ps inc imperf between used(not listed in Scott), inverted surcharge, etc. Also seen, a good study of the 1923 Worker/soldier/peasant types, both perf and imperf including discoveries to be made here in these complicated defins through to the 1925 high values, an excellent range. The collections ends with postage dues 1924/25, the Lenin 1924, similarly airmails with and without o/ps, the mausoleum issue and both commems inc imperf, etc. We get the distinct impression that there are some really good items here and we recommend the specialist spends time on this superb collection.
