THE MOST IMPORTANT ITEM OF THE FRENCH P.O. IN ROMANIA French Post Office in Sulina. 1859 (Nov 30), folded cover to Constantinople, franked by well margined examples of Empire imperf. 20c blue, type I, and 80c carmine-rose, both very fine with full margins, each tied by small numeral '4015' hs with matching 'SULINA/TURQ. D'EUROPE' cds alongside, backstamped on arrival; only four covers are known exhibiting the small numeral postmark of Sulina, of which three bear the 10c + 40c single rate franking, this being the only cover recorded showing the usage of the Empire 20c and 80c values in Romania, the most important item of the French Post Offices in Romania Expertise: Cert. Small but powerful collection of postal history including exhibition rarities, as follows: Greek Offices in Romania: 1863 Stampless wrapper from the Greek Office in Ibraila with blue despatch cds at lower left, sent to Athens and franked on arrival with Large Hermes Heads 10l, 20l and 80l tied by Athens cds to pay postage due, reverse with Pireaus and further Athens cds, a major rarity of the Greek Offices in Romania with only three covers known according to Holcombe Austrian Fieldpost in Romania: Partial and restored cover sent to Milan with 1850 2kr strip of three and 3kr cancelled by "FELDPOST No. 2" cds, Vienna transit, incomplete franking, in spite of its faults, it is the only known Austrian Fieldpost cover from Romania and a major rarity of this area as such Postal Stationery: "La Multi Ani 1900" 5b postal stationery card without printer's inscription on the front, uprated with 5b and sent to Turkey, very rare Waybill: 1860 (Feb) Complete waybill in Cyrillic for packages and money bags from T. Neamzu with crisp cds in blue and Jassy arrival cds in red, very fine and very rare cancellation (rated 3'000 points by Dragomir) Balance: Group of 40 stampless and official covers and 38 stamped items with a range frankings incl. stationery, parcel cards, unusual cancels, etc. (Image)

A VERY RARE REGISTERED INCOMING MAIL 1859-60, 1kr brown, two singles, 6kr green, two singles, and 18kr blue, single, three stamps (1kr and 18kr denominations) touched on one side, tied by 'STUTTGART/25 NOV 1860/11N2' cds's, on 25 Nov. 1860 folded registered cover to Bucharest, 'STUTTGART/CHARGÉ' red postmark at left, Weiterfranko Austrian 'Wf20' and German 'Wf14' (Kr) notations on front, carried with involvement of the Austrian P.O. in Bucharest as denoted by corresponding cds on reverse; a very rare and desirable cover for both collectors of Wurttemberg and Romanian postal history Note: 32 kreuzer franking paying the second weight letter rate as confirmed by the '2' red crayon at lower right, with 6 kreuzer registration fee being paid in cash Expertise: Signed Jakubek (1977), Emilio Diena and Thier (Image)
