1948-53 group of covers, five with Bahrain stamps (identifiable as emanating from Qatar by the return addresses, all commercial, from individuals connected to Petroleum Development (Qatar) or the company itself), via Bahrain, most of these lightly folded; frankings include 6d Olympics. One cover, presumably philatelic, to UK with RSW 2½d with Doha CDS (Type 2) in blue; and two covers (one to Sweden) with BPA in EA 6ds. A really scarce group (Image)

Registered mail. 1953-8 commercial covers (7), three from Doha with Type 3 violet oval cancels (one with strip of three 2½a Coronation); one 1954 originating at Umm Said, stamps and cachet applied at Bahrain; Doha Type 4 on two covers; Doha Type 5 and Umm Said Type 10. 1953-9 covers (15) written up on leaves, destinations mainly local (Bahrain) or UK, franked variously with BPAEA annas/np issues with a couple of Bahrain that 'slipped through' (the Qatari sheikh was not keen on Bahrain stamps being used from Qatar!). Postage Due. 1956-61 group of four covers: one 29 FE 56 with Bahrain 2½a (disallowed and charged), Umm Said CDS, to England, addressee deceased and returned to sender; airmail cover to Canada paying 40np (rate to UK, should have been 1r) and 'tablet' T./P.G. applied; 1961 cover from Umm Said to UK with 40np adhesive but above ½oz, 'tablet' T./P.G. applied with UK marking and 1/1½d Dues; 1961 cover with 20np Sheikh, 'tablet' T./P.G. marking. Also a cover from Qatar to USA evidently posted at Bahrain, to USA, with US missent marking (Image)

Cancellations. 1950-67 collection (40 single stamps or pieces with multiple adhesives) on leaves, a varied and interesting lot grouped by Types, commencing with partial violet Type 1 OFFICE OF THE PO(LITICAL OFFICER) CDS of 21 MAY (50), a very rare marking. Cross-uses include value-only UPU 2½a on piece with blue DOHA CDS of NO 7 50 (Donaldson records known in 1951) also Bahrain stamps (including 5r Castle with part Umm Said parcel cancel ), an interesting lot with high values (Image)

Postal Order. 1968 British 5/- Postal Order, overprinted QATAR and with the currency converted to 2 Riyals 86 Dirhams, poundage of 4 pence converted to 40 Dirhams. Issuing office Doha, with bilingual datestamp of 11 SP 68, and receipted in Florida. Minor wrinkles but a very scarce item (Image)
