Bank wax seal on back; slit open at top. Very fine. Est. value $250+

Mandate Haifa postmarks: 15-03-1938 commercial cover from MECCA to HAIFA franked 2½ qirsh and tied by full strike of local MEQQUE postmark; backstamped 23 MR 38 DANTARA (no such locale - this is an error for "KANTARA") & PORT-TAUFIQ (plus another unclear) transits + next day NAZARETH STREET B.O. arrival using rare postmark GD-110/Sach-J33. Slit open at left; some surface pockmarks. Rare origin; well travelled; est. value $150-200+. Of note: significant quantities of oil in Saudi Arabia were only discovered in 1938, and the first commercial oil well opened 11 before this cover posted, on 4 March 1938.
