EXHIBIT COLLECTION; 'THE PRUSSIAN POSTAL SERVICE IN POLAND, 1820s/1860s'. a fascinating and well researched exhibit of 1820s-60s Prussia, with about 250 covers, wrappers and postal stationery, each one copiously written up on pages to display the progression of the provincial postal markings to various destinations including trans-Atlantic, throughout the collection there are a variety of fine single cds, boxed/unboxed double line strikes, official cachets and experimental handstamps, etc., among the many interesting covers here, we noticed a 1827-49 merchants letters to Bordeaux, 1820s covers to Pyritz, 1830s official letter wrappers, as well as seldom seen Lower and Upper Silesia items present. The collector’s attention to detail is present throughout, not only for the postal history, but when of interest, the history of the recipient/sender such as members of the royal family, agents of the state, etc. This collection requires plenty of time to appreciate what is here, generally F-VF, a highly specialised collection, offered intact as received, the likes of which would be most difficult to replace today (see online scans)
