Samoa, "A.E. Jennings, Swains Island". Private purple double-oval ties U.S. 3¢ Byrd Antarctic Expedition (733) on cover to Marblehead Mass., manuscript "A.E.J." below, entered mails with "Apia, Western Samoa, 19. De 35" cds, Marblehead (1.6) arrival backstamp.

This is the first example of the Jennings, Swains Island marking. Swain's Island was a small island 200 miles north of Tutuila and in 1925, petitioned the U.S. Congress to join American Samoa.
