Group of six covers from the Luria correspondence to Germany, all bearing registry stamps with "2783" to "3343" handstamped number, used along with 1892 2c rose, strip of five, tied by "Panama" cds dated Mar. 26th and Mar. 27th 1900, each with New York (4.6) transit backstamp and registry exchange label affixed, Hamburg (4.16) arrival backstamps; also includes one piece, couple small faults, F.-V.F. group.

Purple "20" non-serif overprint handstamp, manuscript "523" number, used with Panama 1895 20c violet, two singles tied by purple "Bocas del Toro, 17 Jul 1902" cds on pink cover to San Francisco Cal., blue Mobile (7.22) transit backstamp with Mobile registry label (FX-MO1) affixed, San Francisco (7.28) arrival backstamp, Chinese docketing and handstamp; top edge nick and part of back removed, otherwise Very Fine.

ONE OF ONLY TWO RECORDED USAGES OF THIS BOCAS DEL TORO LOCAL NON-SERIF SURCHARGE REGISTRY STAMP.

This cover shows that Bocas del Toro used registry stamps with a local surcharge and are not currently listed in the catalogs. Both usages showing this surcharge were sent on July 17th 1902.

Blue "4367" handstamp, used with Panama 1903-04, 5c blue with magenta "A.R." oval handstamp (H4 var.), and 1903-04 1c green and 2c rose (2) with Panama Third Overprint, 1904, 5c blue and 10c yellow (2) with Fourth Panama overprint, all tied by strikes of "Panama, 19 Apr 1904" duplex on cover front to France, New York registry exchange label affixed, French entry datestamp; minor flaws, F.-V.F., prepaid at the triple rate for 30-45 grams.

There are only three recorded on cover usages of Panama H4, this is a scarce use of Panama 78 with the H4 overprint handstamp. Late in 1901, the supply of Colombian A.R. stamps was exhausted. The 5c postage stamps were overprinted with magenta "A R" oval handstamps and used as A.R. stamps.

Rose surcharge and blue "4558" handstamp, used with Panama 5c blue with "AR" oval provisional handstamp and 1c green, 2c rose pair with Third Panama Overprint and 5c with Fourth Panama Overprint, tied by "Panama 25 Abr 1904" duplexes on cover with preprinted to Paris, France, New York (5.4) transit backstamp and New York exchange label, Paris (5.12) arrival backstamp, Very Fine.

By March 30th 1904, the stock of overprinted Colombia A.R. stamps was apparently exhausted. For the next three months, regular postage stamps were used cancelled by with the same A.R. oval handstamp used prior to Independence.
