25/NO/1867 Buenos Aires - Liverpool, via British mail: Cover sent collect, on back it bears a datestamp of the Consular Agency, London transit of 14/JA and arrival (on front) for the same day. The addresse paid double rate (2/ in pen), VF quality! It was carried via steamer Arno to Rio de Janeiro and then transferred to steamer SEINE, which had some mechanical problems near Bahia, and had to remain there for 4 days. It arrived at Lisboa on 7/JA/1868, dispatching part of the mail to England via Spain and France. It continued the journey and arrived at Southampton on 12/JA/68, and since the cover does not show marks of transit via the continent, it can be assumed that it was carried by the steamer SEINE directly!
