16/JA/1868 Salta - Buenos Aires: Entire letter franked with 5c. (GJ.38) with rococo cancel of SALTA completely worn out, excellent quality. The text is very long, about the beginning of the "PLAGE" (yellow fever) that ravaged Buenos Aires and Córdoba, and the fear that it would extend to Salta due to the little precautions by the police to avoid contagion. Then there is a comment that "los montoneros de Varela" were being protected by Bolivia (in Antofagasta), from where they attacked Salta, also many other family considerations relating to study, etc., very interesting! The text is about commercial issues, but there is an interesting paragraph about the politicial situation: "López Jordán has proved in the battle of Los Sauces that he is quite strong and that it is no easy task to defeat him. Conesa was very close to defeating him and he was only able to stay in the battlefield without getting any advantage in a 3-hour long combat. Long text, about several shipments of SILVER that would be delivered to different European banks in the steamer "Donati" according to instructions, etc. Excellent quality, very interesting piece for its historical content, showing that capital flight was already seen in those years! 15/DE/1872 Salta - Buenos Aires, entire letter franked with 5c. (GJ.38) with very well applied datestamp of SALTA with Maltese cross. The long text is from a widow who started to receive a state pension of "89 Pesos Fuertes", and her request for information about a debt of 6,000 Pesos owed by the state for the services provided by her husband, etc., very interesting! 17/MAR/1874 Buenos Aires - Paris: Entire letter endorsed via (steamer) "Neva, via Southampton", dispatched at Hibbert & Cía (115½ Florida street, Buenos Aires), it paid a double domestic rate with 10c. Belgrano (GJ.39), cancelled with rhombus "B" of that postal agency. The double international rate was paid with 1s. green (1867/9) and 2p. blue (1858, plate 14), that were not cancelled according to the uses and practices for those shipments. The National Mail applied the circular datestamp of Buenos Aires 17/MAR/1874 to carry it to the ship (Neva), which arrived at Southampton on 18/AP, with London transit (20/AP) where it also received the red "PD" and the postage stamps were cancelled with the "barred 8" killers (the British stamps and also the Argentina postage). It entered France via Calais, and arrived at Paris on the same day 20/AP, excellent quality and rare, with Alberto Solari certificate. (Image)

Entire letter sent from B.Aires to Salta on 6/MAY/1874, franked with 5c. (GJ.38), on back it bears an attractive transit mark of Rosario. Very interestint text, about the shipment of gold and silver from the North by "Mensajerías Iniciadores", the defficient packing and thefts that took place. Excellent quality! (Image)

15/AP/1877 Buenos Aires - Bordeaux: Cover sent by British mail with single domestic rate of 8c. (GJ.47, with minor defects) cancelled "BUENOS AIRES OM 15/AP/1877" and international rate to by paid by addressee. In London it was marked for postage dues BY MISTAKE with "T1.10" corresponding to letters from the Caribbean, with Calais transit mark and on back Calais-Bordeaux cancel. The addressee had to pay higher postage dues than what was due, because the French mail persisted on the mistake made by the British mail by handstamping "17" (1.70Fr.) instead of the correct "12", very nice and interesting piece for the specialist!
