1851: Cover from Ballenar endorsed 'por Vapor' carried south by Coastal Steamer to Santiago, addressed to the Minister of the Interior, Antonio Vargas (1817-1866), struck with BALLENAR and FRANCA straight line handstamps in violet on despatch. FRANCA, CABOTAJE and VALPARAISO all in bright red ink. A fine and most attractive cover with notations of rate changes at upper right. (Image 1) (Image)

1854: Recess by Gillet, 5 c. Burnt Siena, a horizontal used pair with large margins all round for this stamp, of excellent rich colour, lightly cancelled in black. Rare so fine Gi 10 = £ 900/Scott = $ 600. (Image 1) (Image)

1858: Santiago print 5 c. dull reddish brown, a fine huge margined horizontal pair showing portions of four adjoining stamps, on 1858 cover to Lima tied by concentric rings target handstamp in black. 1910c.: 'Hahn' Reprints of the Colon Head design, the album with imperforate Reprints by Hahn most on watermarked paper showing the Arms and 'Republica de Chile' in frame or watermarked '* / CHILE', with 5 c. blocks and singles in a variety of colours incl. a block of 30 in 'Estancos' shade, 20 c. value with blocks of four in black and in green and a block of 12 in black, blocks of four with double print in olive, blue and in red; an interesting assembly (60+ items). 1854/1964c: Collection with a good range of early Colon types used incl. Gillet 10 c. burnt sienna, fine rouletted issues with cancellation interest, and covers including Santiago printing 10 c. blue bisected diagonally and vertically, Perkins Bacon printing with covers (2) carried at 15 c. rates, a correspondence largely from Puemo with rouletted frankings incl. registered usages.

1867/1912c.: Collection on Schaubek leaves with Colon 1854 5 c. Burnt Siena used, 1857 London print 5 c. used (3), 1862 1 c. yellow postally used, 20 c. green used, thereafter largely complete with much cancellation interest, 1910 Independence issue complete mixed unused & used etc.

Great Britain used in Chile 1867: Great Britain 2 s. blue, a fine wing margined example used on 1869 cover to London endorsed 'via Panama' tied by "C40" obliterator with corresponding COQUIMBO cds (Feb 4) on reverse in black.
