1843: 60 reis grey-black, Intermediate Impression, a fine horizontal pair with huge margins all round used on obverse of second sheet of 1845 entire letter from Rio de Janeiro, written in German to Theodor Wille in Santos, carried by sea at single rate and endorsed at top 'p. Ypiranga' in manuscript; the adhesives tied by crisp strike of CORREIO GERAL DA CORTE datestamp (Jan 24) in black. Illustrated in "Bulls Eyes on Covers" by Juchert / Maassen on page 135.
