After 20 years of work the project was a failure due to disease and financial problems. Over 20,000 men were lost and it cost over $287,000,000. This 1888 French Panama Canal Bond Certificate has 11 France and Canal revenue stamps and great auxiliary marks. A significant piece of history. Condition is typical of these bonds.
