Reverse with both a direct and offset impression, in combination with 1867, Gothic "Mexico", 1r black on green (36) on 1868 folded letter sheet to San Luis Potosi, tied by Mexico cds's (Schatzkes 821); stamp lifted to confirm variety and placed back, cover expertly repaired internal cover hole and reinforced, otherwise Very Fine, signed J.K. Bash, with 1997 M.E.P.S.I. certificate.

Mexico, 1867, Gothic "Mexico" on thin gray-blue paper, 2r green, printed on both sides. Without gum, margins large to just slightly in at lower right, strong bright color, reverse with light impression but clearly showing bottom value tablet, Very Fine, with 1997 M.E.P.S.I. certificate.

THE UNIQUE MINT EXAMPLE OF THE 1867 2R GOTHIC "MEXICO" ON THIN GRAY-BLUE PAPER, PRINTED ON BOTH SIDES VARIETY.

The Gothic Provisionals issues contain some of the rarest stamps of Mexico. This printed on both sides variety in unused condition is the only unique Gothic Provisional variety. Even used examples are extremely rare with only two or three examples in existence.

Clear to mostly large margins, tied by blue "Tacna, Peru, 22 Enero, 71" cds on folded letter to Castillon, France, in combination with G.B. 1867, 3d rose, two singles tied by "C35" barred oval handstamp of Panama, red "Insufficiently Prepaid" handstamp below, boxed "G.B., 1f60c" handstamp crossed out and replaced with "G.B., 1f90c" handstamp, "19" decimes due handstamp, reverse with Callao and French transit date stamps, Very Fine, with 2011 Eichele certificate.

AN ATTRACTIVE PERU AND GREAT BRITAIN MIXED FRANKING USAGE TO FRANCE.

The Peru 1d paid for the internal rate within Peru, while the G.B. 6d franking paid the rate to the British Post Office in Panama only. Subsequently, the letter was treated wholly unpaid and charge 1.90fr on arrival.
