Cons 12-68, tied by Mexico cds (Schatzkes 821) on cover front to Irapuato, with full side flap docketed "Mexico, Mayotte 13/69", Very Fine, a unique showcase item missing on a piece of mail even from the very complete Doug Stout's 1868 collection (NF $2,000 for off cover single), with 2002 M.E.P.S.I. certificate.
Scott No. 69b; Estimate $4,000 - 6,000.

This error was caused early in the issue when a thick figure 50c cliche was misplaced on the 25c plate (Stone C) at two positions, one of which was corrected by redrawing the denomination and the other creating this error. The error was quickly caught with a few examples getting out in the first shipments of the issue. It is known from Puebla, Oaxaca, Orizava, Queretaro and Veracruz districts.
