CURVED MALTA HANDSTAMP GROUP; Range of original correspondence to Lady Caroline Clements in London (one to Celbridge, Ireland) inc. Dec. 1826 extensive EL datelined H.M.S Zebra (1815-40) "....the Marquis of Hastings had died at Naples....he is to be buried alongside King Tom [Sir Thomas Maitland 1759-1824] the late Governor....I am just come down below from a very tedious & irksome lookout on a pirate....under Cape Matapan [Greece]....a Greek Corvette,she had no colours up .....hoisted over ensign, the bombard showed Ionian colours and bore down on us...." The front with part framed arc "PAID/MALTA" with ms. 'Not Paid' above and rated '3/2'(d) plus three others also datelined at the same ship, two with arc-framed "MALTA" h.s. on front, another carried privately to Dover and a Dec. 1825 extensive cross-written EL datelined H.M.S Naiad [1797-1898] Gulf of Algiers privately carried and posted in Plymouth.
