1814/1815, GENERAL GOVERNMENT LOWER AND MIDDLE RHINE, historic collection on exhibition pages, comprising 17 letters exemplifying the postal history of the Hessian and Prussian Occupation of Luxemburg.
The Hessian Occupation is presented by an entire letter with red double-line 'P P TREVES' h/s addressed to the commissioner Athenstedt in Echternach, further letters from the fortress Luxemburg 'KURHESSISCHER COMMANDANT ZU LUXEMBURG' addressed to the General Commissioner von Schmitz-Grollenburg and a letter from General Commissioner Zipf.
The Prussian Occupation is presented by letters from General Pirch Headquarters in Arlon to Luxemburg, further military mail from Prussian Forces in Echternach and mail from and to the Fortress Luxemburg.
In addition entire letters from the involved Thurn & Taxis postal authorities, i.a. from Luxemburg to the Domain Director Engelmann in Trèves (Trier) and to the Commissioner Sack in Koblenz, one letter with single-line 'GREVENMACHER' h/s to Luxemburg, letter sent via "estafette" from "WAELDERDEPARTEMENT DES KREISDIREKTORS VON DIEKIRCH" and other valuable and interesting items.
