1872 (May 2) Cover to Itzcani (part of Austria at the time) franked with strip of three 5b red, four margin, horizontal crease at top, tied by blue Botosani cds, "P.D." boxed mark in blue to front, rare Itzcani arrival on reverse dated 8 May, sent when the rate for the first weight bracket letter sent to the borderline territories of Austo-Hungarian Empire was 15 Bani; in June 1871 a Romanian post office was established in the Austrian railway station in Itzcani and all correspondence exchanged with Austria occurred from then through this post office (prior sent through Gara Roman post office); very rare backstamp of the Romanian post office abroad which first opened in 1871 in what was at the time Austria; the franking of a strip of three of the 5 Bani stamp is most unusual, we do not know of another example.
