EGYPT - GREECE: 1870 Single weight cover from Damiata (22-4-1870) by way of Alexandria to Syros, franked with Egypt 1pi, 1867 issue, the postage rate to Alexandria Greek Post Office, on arrival was charged with 40L, 1868-69 issue, tied by Syros arrival c.d.s.. (April 29, 1870), the 40L with huge margins all round, showing portions of adjacent stamps in three sides (top, bottom, left), transit c.d.s. of Alexandria (19-4-1870) and Mansura, an absolutely superb and very impressive combination cover of the rarity. ROMANIA - GREECE: 1867 Folded cover from Ibraila to Athens, via Constantinople, franked with a strip of three of 10 Soldi (L.V.), tied by IBRAILA c.d.s., taxed on arrival 20L (1862-67), blue, oxidized corners, with large margins, tied by Athens c.d.s. ROMANIA - GREECE: 1871 A prepaid cover from Ismail, Romania, to Syros, bearing Romania 50 Bani postage, travelled by Austrian ship by way to Galatz and Constantinople, on arrival it was charged 20L (1871 issue) to pay the domestic rate, tied by Syros c.d.s. (25-4-1871), adjacent is Ismail blue c.d.s. (24/4), both adhesives with good to large margins, a spectacular mixed franking cover of the utmost appeal, a very fine and choice item. RUSSIA - GREECE: 1867 single weight cover from Rostov to Syros via Pdessa by French steamer, franked 1K + 3K + 30K, on arrival 20L, blue, strip of 3, and 5L, green, all 1861-67 issue, all with clear to huge margins, tied by Syros c.d.s. (26-8-1867) were applied as dues, cancelled by Syros, a superb very colourful and spectacualar five cover mixed franking in perfect condition, very scarce.
