Gibraltar: 1805 (Apr. 4) entire letter from Edward Michell (later Brigadier General Sir Edward Thomas Michell, CB, 1787-1841) whilst on garrison duty, addressed to his sister Eliza at Gloucester, with straight line “LISBON” and rated “2/3”, the letter carried by packet from Lisbon to Falmouth. An interesting letter with news including the expected departure the next day of a vessel that would connect with the packet from Lisbon, this service not extended to Gibraltar until the following year.
