POSTAL HISTORY: 1851 entire letter to Genoa endorsed "pr Rattler" and rated "4" in magenta M/S, very fine "GIBRALTAR" double arc despatch cds (8 FE 1851), superb "GIBRALTAR / SHIP LETTER" two line H/S, both in blue, and red "VIA / DI MARE / (E)" on face. Arrival ds "25 FEB" in red on reverse, faint horizontal file fold. A very late use of this ship letter mark, and exhibition quality (Image)
