Finland, Feather letter 1796, Nice small and rare feather letter from Tavastehus (Finland), dated May 24, 1796 to Somero, Nyland and Tavastehus county by Crown Mail. Also with nice crown coil and Carl Gustaf Söderberg was addressee. In the red seal (Chancellery of the county Tavastehus) is just a small part of the feather still attached. Full written content. Notation "S" is probably for easier mail handling including route. Rare to find Finnish feather letter from this time. Small traces after mounting, overall good quality!. (Image1)

Finland, Pre-philately 1611, Very early and rare courier letter with nice ornament dated Åbo Castle August 12, 1611 by the governor in Åbo (1609-) and treasurer of whole Finland (1609-) Nils Kijll. Participated in Arvid Stålarm's campaign to Dorpat 1603. The letter is sent to Södra Savolinna (Nyslott). Distance about 500 km. Full written content. Kijll was also governor for Nyslott from 1604. A then newly built tower at the Nyslott castle was called "Kil's tower" after him. Fine quality although folded a long time ago.. (Image1)
