THE NIELSEN COLLECTION OF CLASSIC CHILE 1853-80, The award-winning collection of classic Chille formed by Henry Munk Nielsen on 82 exhibition pages. A wonderful collection showing a good degree of specialisation concentrating on the 1853-66 "Columbus" issues but also showing a fine display of the 1867 perforated issue and the 1877 rouletted issue.  1853 Issue with singles and pairs, shades and cancels, incl. 5c with "Ivory Head", 10c one and half bisect on cover from Copiaco to Valparaiso, 10c single with margin inscription. 1854 Desmadryl issue including a fantastic cover franked by two 5c strips of four (ex Hall), also other cover to same address with one strip of four, two maritime covers with resp. CABOTAJE and VAPOR LIMA straightline cancels, then 5c on cover to Bordeaux, multitude of shades, varieties and cancels, multiple examples of squeezed transfer faults, the 10c value with strips including up to strips of five, bisects of the 10c including with 5c value, inverted watermarks, etc. 1855 London Print issue replete with multiples including block of eight and several strips of six including on cover, bisect of the 10c, strip of five on cover, also two strips of four, plus pairs and a strip of three. Subsequent printings with here again several interesting bisects, several blocks of four, several covers going to Europe, strip of seven of the 10c Second London printing, marginal block of six, fascinating cancels such as the Valparaiso "INUTIL / CHILE" on pair of Last Santiago Print 5c pair, also watermark varieties, plate proofs, etc. Later issues with well-furnished 1867 issue with a range of covers and frankings including scarce 1c printed matter rate, here again many letters addressed abroad, then 1877 issue with large blocks and frankings plus small section of the Pacific War.  See complete set of scans on the web.
