PAIR OF FRANK GODDEN "WARWICK" ALBUMS with the magnificent mint & used study of the early issues, 1879-1915. Includes 1879 (May-Jul.) the five values 5c, 10c, 25c, 50c & 1f mint. The 10c with small thin and the 1f with no gum. SG between 1-8 (£3,385); a minimum 5 additional fine used sets (Cat. £700/set) including 2 different Dies. 1881 new currency set of 6 values mint SG between 9-20 (£1,900) with a minimum 5 additional fine used sets (Cat. £240/set), demonstrating shade variations. 1882 colour change set of 7 to 50st mint and a large number of used issues demonstrating shade variations, different Dies and minor flaws. 1884/84 Provisional surcharges set of 4 unused, with Robson Lowe Certificate of Opinion stating "all genuine surcharges". These are 3st on 10st with part original gum SG 38 (£120), 50st on 1f with no gum SG 40 (£850 as mint), 5st on 30st with part orig. gum SG 42 (£225) and 15st on 25st with part orig. gum and small defect SG 45 (£250). Also, several used values and a group of identified forgeries. 1889-91 'Small Lion' types mint set of 10 and mint set of 10 optd. "SPECIMEN" SG 51s/61s (£300) plus a perforated proof of 1st value in black, signed "Buhler". Further examples of Vienna & Sofia printings of this issue and a range of 1892-1909 surcharges. 1901-05 Prince Ferdinand issue includes a mint set of 12 to 3 leva overprinted "ULTRAMAR" (i.e. as Specimens). Also a range of colour trials of the 5st and 10st Postal Stationery Dies for this issue on card (10 pieces). Other sections incl. study of the 1896 'Baptism of Prince Boris' issue including a fine range of Commemorative Postal stationery cards in various colours, and studies of flaws/varieties in the 1902 25th. Anniv. & Shipka Pass issues & 1907 20th Anniv. of Accession issues. Overall, a very fine assembly of considerable value. [Ex David Cornelius] (Many 100s) (Image)
