"DISINFECTED" MAILS COVER COLLECTION. splendid collection of approx 85 stampless and franked covers of the early to mid-19th century showing range of disinfection techniques - slits, perforating, fumigation, "staining", etc. and with nice array of the various markings and public health office seals (incl Rodi, Ogliastro, Military Hospital of Incurables, St George Major Military Hospital) used to note item was treated incl "PANARO SANITA", "SANITA DEL BASSO PO", "DEPUTATO SANITARIO DI FIUME ESINO", "RESERVELAZARETTE VII / ZABERN" on 1914 pcd),mostly Italian related (origin, destination or a domestic use) and note 1815 Asturia (Spain) to London with slit, 1856 Krajova to Vienna with Austria 6kr, 9kr Arms and perforating holes; 1897 Lexington VA to New Orleans with perforating (during yellow fever epidemic), various from Eastern Mediterranean region, etc., usual mixed condition, VG-VF, ideal for expansion (see online scans)
