French Antarctic Expedition 1948-50: Expedition airmail envelope addressed to Expedition H.Q. in Paris bearing Terre Ad̩lie overprint 100f. tied by both "15 - 2/1949" and "1 - 20/1950" c.d.s.'s on both "Charcot" attempts, signed by expedition leader Andre-Frank Liotard with registration label, "BATIMENT POLAIRE/"Commandant Charcot"" cachet in red, circular pictorial 'Ouverture du Service Postal' and four line Expedition cachets, backstamped Hobart Feb. 23 and Sydney Feb. 25 1950. Photo. As the "Charcot" was unable to break through the pack ice at the first attempt this cover was carried and cancelled once more during the successful 1949-50 expedition. (Image1)
