Interesting group of 7 items, starts with 1910 cover bearing SG 166 Kabul to Peshawar with transits.Then 5 x covers each bearing 1921-7 10p Rose (both types) with additional Indian 1a adhesives, various Kabul, Torkhum, Landikhana, Peshawa, Mazar-I-Sharif, Safar, circular or oval handstamps. Then scarce 1936 printed Registered cover with SG 225 tied Kandhar c.d.s. Cover franked on reverse with 1921 10p rose (SG 176) tied by oval KABOUL cancel paying postage to Indian border. Addressed to PESHAWAR INDIA and taxed on arrival with LANDIKHANA DUE TWO ANNAS horseshoe marking, LANDIKHANA transit cds and PESHAWAR UNPAID arrival cds. Afghanistan did not join the UPU until 1st April 1928 hence the stamps of the country were only valid for internal mail. Few light tone spots. [US3] (Start Price = £18.40)
