VINTAGE AFGHANISTAN COLLECTION. many 100s of stamps on quadrille album leaves, all housed in an old fashioned individual leather bound album. Starting with part sheet of 15 of the imperf 1873 tigers issue Scott #10 including re-touched ornament, through to 1878 skeleton and non-skeleton types again imperf mint and used, including a block of 16x 1 shahi violet mint, as well as other imperf multiples including, block of 12x of Scott #100, se-tenant block of four of Scott #101, #102 and #103 (not listed in Scott). 2x complete sheets again imperf of #106, 1sh green, etc. Early 20th century also well represented with the Royal Star issues, starting off with mint wing corner marginal examples of the series, then the 10pa rose, #214 with 5x different used examples, 4 of which are on piece, then the 1921 royal stars with 13x different examples used including the better perfs again used on piece, followed by a complete mint sheet of #217a, 4x #218, then #219 mint and used including 2x different printings of mint tete-beche #219c. Mid 1920s include perf and imperf, mint and used, of the 1928 tughra and crest Amanullah including tete-beche, perf varieties, imperfs, Scott #222 block of 4, imperf #224a, complete sheet of #224 with tete-beche gutter pairs, same with #225 both unlisted varieties in Scott. Also an important range of back of the book with parcel post issues mint and used, including sheet of 25x mint of #Q1, #Q2, as well as multiples of the varieties including the rare imperforate #Q2a in block of 4 format, etc. More good material with the ministry of education issues #Q10 to #Q13 including mint block of 4x #Q10a se-tenant and many more varieties. AFGHANISTAN ASSORTMENT. the "work in progress" section of the exceptional Afghanistan collection offered in the previous lot, among the 100s of mint and used stamps including a complete sheet of the tigers imperf 60x Scott #11, showing all the different settings, through to the first airmails #C1 to #C3 including imperf pairs and blocks of 4 x of all three denominations (only 100 imperf of each printed), including #C1a - #C3a imperf registered pairs on cover, as well as further unlisted imperfs of the coat of arms types, etc. Other items noticed include blocks of 4x of the 1898 registration stamps, moreover 3 of the best are revenue items of large design 19th century rupee high values in black, purple and mauve, mosaic arabesque types, the latter distinct from the former and all quite rare, etc, usual mixed condition, VG-VF; an enjoyable task for the specialist (see online scans)
