MOVABLE BOX MAIL FROM EGYPT; 11 May 1859 env. to Kent franked 6d + strip of three 1d with individual 'A25' cancels - normally only used on registered mail and eight months earlier than recorded by Parmenter et al (2016) - and tied by a London Paid cds. Rear with a chamfered-framed "MALTA/MB" d.s. and London SE cds. Believed written on the Bengal and placed in a Movable Box on the Pera and delivered to the Malta PO where sent via Marseilles for ¼ oz. rate. Uncommon example of this service.
