Sebha/16 MAI 1943/Fezzan" circular unframed datestamp, with "Ghadames/R.F. Fezzan" double-ring May 25 arrival datestamp on reverse; a few minor tones, Very Fine, a truly spectacular matched pair of covers, with these Provisional First Issues used on the day of issue, A. Diena & Cotta, one also signed Roumet.

Fezzan" double-ring datestamp, and on address side Postage Due 1943 (June 9) surcharged 1f on 10c blue vertical strip of three from the top of the sheet, the top two stamps variety double surcharge, each with one in black and one in red (Sassone #3, S2, S2a), tied by "R.F. Postes/Fezzan" double-ring handstamp, showing "R.F. Sebha/Fezzan" circular unframed datestamp of "20 Mai 1943" adjacent, with various manuscript markings "parti Retour avion Sebha non demandé", indicating that the addressee had left and that the card should be returned by ordinary mail, matching "T" and dated "21 mai 1943 Le Receveur" with his signature; tiny part of the manuscript date just written in the left corner of the middle stamp, the top stamp in the strip has horizontal crease resulting in small tear at left, otherwise Very Fine, signed Alberto Diena and Calves, with clear 1989 E. Diena certificate.
Sassone €15,500 ($17,380).

Only 95 examples of this value were surcharged, this being a remarkable usage of the double surcharge variety se-tenant with a normal, of which we recall seeing only one other such strip on cover
