Italian States: Modena, 1853, 1L black, with period after value, value partially omitted (Scott 9 var), a large-margined example (dividing lines present on three sides) with excellent color and impression, tied on piece with straightline handstamped "1852" date, the stamp with a striking plate flaw whereby the bottom half of "LIRA 1" is omitted, Very Fine, a rare used stamp, the "normal" stamp cataloguing $2500 in Scott and €5000 on piece in Sassone.
