Markham, P.R.G.S.', franked by photographic vignette depicting the 'SY Windward', below superb strike of the 'FRANZ JOSEF LAND.' hs in violet, lower left corner part cut away dated '?/4/95' and initialled 'A(lbert).B(orlasse).A(rmitage). Off?'; also letter (some ageing) from Clements Markham to his cousin Mabel with interesting contents "I send you a stamp which I do not think you have, and which I am afraid there can be no place set apart for in your book. It is from Franz Josef Land in the arctic Regions, and must be about the first stamp that ever came from such a great distance north as 80°". Fine and most unusual (Image)
