BOER WAR: 1900 (Aug 7) philatelic cover with VRI Surcharges to 1/- on Orange Free State tied by 'ARMY PO 43/S.AFRICA' cds, to NSW but missent via Fiji (Suva b/s of 7/SEP/01) with Sydney arrival b/s of JA9/02. Outrageous transit time of 16 months, by which time the war was almost over!

BOER WAR: 1901 (May 9) cover endorsed on the flap "Hope better luck/this time/4.5.01" from Victoria at the 1d soldier's rate to a trooper with "Warrens Mtd Infantry/Cape Town" endorsed "Not Known" & with boxed 'NOT TO BE FOUND' h/s in rosine, the reverse with largely fine strike of the rare 'NO ADDRESS AT/A P O/CAPE TOWN/up to APRIL 11 1902' handstamp, 'RETURNED GPO/MY 1/02/CAPE TOWN' in violet & 'DEAD LETTER OFFICE/JE7/02/MELBOURNE' b/s in rosine, stained mostly on the reverse but clear of the postal markings. A rare, if distressed, beastie. (Qty 100s)
