India stamps were used at Mombasa from July until October 1890, after stocks of the G.B stamps overprinted for the British East Africa Co. had run out and prior to the issue of the first regular issue of B.E.A. 1896-97 Covers posted within Mombasa, all bearing 1895-96 India overprint issue, one cover franked 2r hand addressed, the others with cyclostyled addresses franked ½a + 3a, 2a + 4a, 6a, 8a, 1r slate (2 covers) or 5r, philatelic but unusual. S.G. £824 as stamps. (8).

1897 (Jan 12) Covers posted within Mombasa, handstamped addresses of Dawjee Jamall & Co, bearing the 1897 Zanzibar overprint issue strips of six of the 4½a or 7½a, the 4½a cover creased, very philatelic but an uncommon issue on cover. S.G. 83, 85, £540 as stamps. (2).

Forgeries. 1890-97 Issues, forged stamps or overprints written up on pages including 1890 imperf 1a, 2a defaced by manuscript crosses, Fournier forgeries of the 1890 issue and subsequent overprints, forged overprints on BEA, India or Zanzibar stamps, Sperati photographic prints, some forged cancels and Specimen overprints. Postal Stationery. 1897 (July 7) India 2a6p on 4a6p envelope overprinted "British East Africa", error "Birtish" for "British", used within Mombasa, small tear at right edge below the embossed stamp, otherwise fine and very scarce. Photo on Page 184. (Image1)

Lamu. 1900 QV 1a Postcard and 1911 KEVII 6c reply card (reply half) both commercially used to Germany with fine Lamu double ring datestamps, both very fine strikes. Also 1916 stampless O.A.S postcards (2) and a cover with Indian F.P.O 343 c.d.s (2) or Indian F.P.O 302 c.d.s and two line Postage Free handstamp, and a 1915 card bearing South Africa 1d tied by F.P.O 4 dumb type c.d.s used at Luderitzbucht, S.W.A. (6).

World War One. 1914-18 Covers and cards (9) and stamps on piece (27), comprising forces mail (6), covers with differing coloured censor labels (3), East Africa & Uganda stamps on pieces cancelled by Base Office C c.d.s (12), and I.E.F stamps on pieces or C.T.O on a cover cancelled by Indian F.P.O 320 (7 stamps) or F.P.O 343 c.d.s (8). World War Two. 1939 (Sep 1) Stampless O.H.M.S cover from Kampala to Entebbe, censored two days prior to the declaration of war with violet "PASSED BY CENSOR / KAMPALA / 1", redirected to London on the following day with a 20c stamp; and two 1940 (Apr 8) covers from Kitale to Denmark, one delivered but with a Danish P.O cachet and boxed "RETOUR", the other with violet "POSTAL SERVICE SUSPENDED / RETURN TO SENDER", an unusual pair. World War Two / Military Mail. 1941-46 Forces covers (47), 1944 cover from the Polish Settlement at Koja to a Polish soldier, and lettersheets or cards from Italian Prisoners of War (10, one with "ITALIAN EVACUEE CAMP No. 1A / KENYA COLONY" and boxed "EVACUEES MAIL / POSTAGE FREE"). Also 1947-76 forces mail (25), various cachets. (83).
