1894-1901 Cover, pieces (25, bearing 36 stamps) and single stamps (4), issues of Germany cancelled in South West Africa, comprising 1896 cover to Germany bearing four 10pf stamps cancelled at Swakopmund; 1892-99 2m with Keetmanshoop c.d.s, 2m on pieces with Swakopmund c.d.s (4 singles and pair on five pieces) and 2m + 20pf on piece used at Windhoek; 1892-99 3m brown on piece with Otjimbingue c.d.s, 3m brown or 3m ochre-brown on pieces used at Keetmanshoop, 5m used at Uhabis or Windhoek (piece), 10pf pieces with pairs or two singles cancelled at Windhoek (4 pieces) or at Swakopmund unusually also with "300" numeral cancels of British P.O at Walvis Bay, 20pf pair and pieces (5, three with pair or two singles) all used at Windhoek (one piece also cancelled "300" of Walvis Bay), 50pf pairs (2) or singles (3) on five pieces cancelled at Swakopmund (2) or Windhoek (3). 1899 (Apr 21) Commercial cover to Germany with first issue 20pf cancelled in manuscript, "Richthofen 21.4.99" written below, backstamped at Swakopmund and in Germany. A rare cover from one of the construction sites on the Swakopmund to Windhoek railway; during the construction of the railway in 1897-99 several such sites were given the authority to cancel stamps in manuscript.
