Cat No:Collection

ISSUED STAMPS: 1/- bright green SG 61 block of 8 (4x2), well centred, multiple strikes of a 13-bar 'killer' cancel. An exceptional & rare multiple, believed exceeded only by Lord Vestey's heavily cancelled block of 9 that sold for £1560. Ex John Dibiase: sold for $2875. [A client in Perth has advised that there was also a block of 9 in the 'Besancon' sale: not sure how we missed it. 'Chartwell' had a block of 9 in the sage-green shade. There is also a block of 12 of SG 61 in the institutionalised Bromfield Collection]

Cat No:67b

ISSUED STAMPS: 1874 Surcharge 'ONE PENNY' in Green on perf 12½ 2d yellow First Setting (at the base) with Triple Surcharge SG 67b, a few trimmed perfs, light 15-bar '20' cancel of Geraldton, Cat £7500. Ex Dr Cecil Walkley: sold for $2910 & Ex Gary Diffen. RPSofV Certificate (2005). Lord Vestey's very fine example sold for £2640. Mogens Juhl stated that the Triple Surcharges occurred on the first sheet printed. The sheet was probably in the nature of an essay or trial printing that was still pressed into service. Juhl states that the sheet was divided in half, one part being sent to Geraldton, from which only four examples are recorded. Gary Diffen states that 14 examples are recorded in private hands, of which three have the imperial puncture.
