USA 1928-30 1st Byrd Antarctic Expdn cover (21 x 14cm), addressed to Dunedin, NZ franked USA 2c canc fine "S.S. CITY OF NEW YORK" duplex d/s FEB 1 1929. At left, fine B.A.E. pictorial cachet (polar scene etc) with "LITTLE AMERICA - ANTARCTIC" text below. Very fine.

At left, 4 diff cachets: (a) B.A.E. pictorial cachet (polar scene etc); (b) "Auxiliary Barque City of New York" (penguins, ice & ship); (c) B.A.E. "1928-30 on globe etc; (d) name of sender, Richard W Konter, apparently on board the ship. Seasonal greetings sheet inside dated Dec 28 1929 (signed by Konter). Interesting item. Fine.
