[The Pan Am Pacific Clipper airmail rate was 70c per ½oz x3. This service was suspended on 8.12.1941, after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor]

[NB: Scott prices this stamp at $US8500 mint, despite it being well recognised that it is much scarcer in used condition. This is reflected by Gibbons which prices SG 16a used at £1000 more than mint]
