Israel. 1948 US "service suspended" mail to Palestine: 7 APR 1948 surface mail commercial 1st day cover from NATCHEZ to TEL AVIV, franked 6c & tied by FDC machine cancel; posted 11 days after 27 March US surface-mail suspension to Palestine, so marked by 2x different NYC Post Office "Surface Mail Suspended | Return to Sender" instructional marking handstamp K-Type-1 + instructional marking handstamp K-Type-II (reversed order of Type-I text) & returned to sender - rare instance of both instructional markings on one cover + unusual as FDC.

Israel 1948 Doar Ivri TRIPLE RARITY: 1000 mil left corner tabbed stamp with gutters on blue paper, with rare 10:10 perforation (Ba 9f) & double vertical perforation in field at left (this not catalogued); MNH & OG; perforated at base, with short teeth as observed on this issue & off-centered as encountered with this type perforation. Firm paper (no signs of folds along perf), some original ink marks on back; a few toning spots on gum front base; small wrinkle at bottom right tip; tiny expertization handstamp on back. Est. value $6500-8000+ (Bale cat value $6500 alone for 9f & $1200 if double perf - in margin, FCV169).

United States. 1963 incoming US taxed mail: 5 JY 1963 airmail maxi picture-postcard Coney Island from BROOKLYN to JERUSALEM underfranked at $0.25 and taxed 1.47L in Israel (very high, probably handled as a letter and not postcard), using 6 franks: pair 0.30L 1963 Independence Ba266 + 3 color 0.01L, 2x 0.18L & 0.50L 1961 Zodiac Ba204/211/215 franks; as initially unpaid, all annulled by "Payment not Received | Cancelled" cachets, but then stamped by JERUSALEM-4 postmark on 10-7-63 when the addressee came to pay. Unusual handling & high tax; estimated value $90+

United States. 1964 incoming US taxed & triple redirected mail (lives of rich & famous): OCT 19 1964 $0.04 pre-printed postcard from NEW YORK to FOREST HILLS with request by "G. Getty" (presumably a member of the famous Getty family) to call; arrived OCT 22 but as addressee left, redirected by surface mail (and marked for tax) to new address in VIENNA, arriving 29-12-64 per red boxed cachet, where apparently the name (hotel?) was correct but not the city and so redirected again to FRANKFURT, with updated street address handstamped, arriving 6 JAN 1965 per green dater - with new postage dues (12) marked; here address updated yet again to hotel in TEL AVIV, where arrived, redirected to its P.O.Box and marked for 0.10L postage dues, paid 25-1-1965 (Hebrew date off by 1 Latin day) using 1961 Zodiac Ba209 tied by TEL AVIV-7 postmark. 3 month transit; well travelled & documented.
