1862 Patriotic Stampless Soldier's Cover, mailed from Washington D.C. on MAR.6.1862 to Carrick, PA, unfranked but with black "Due 3" handstamp. Lovely multi-coloured eagle and flag on rock (labeled "Constitution"), plus unusual musical score and words. Some aging at edges, still a very fine Civil War era cover. Soldier mail was not free until 1864. (Image)
