Bamber carried from Danville into the business district of San Francisco. Bamber would normally turn over to Wells Fargo in S.F. but had a arrangement that allowed them to carry into the business district.

Blue ornately framed handstamp struck on reverse of orange buff cover to Freeport Ill., entered mails with blue "Marysville Cal '10' Aug 15" integral-rate cds; large cover tear and corner faults with some toning, Fine and rare Langton's use from French Corral.
Estimate; $500 - 750.

This is an extremely rare Langton's marking, the town of French Corral was founded in 1849 and named for a Frenchman who built a corral for his mules, gold was later discovered there. Nathan noted that this was one of the scarcest of all the Langton handstamps with only four known.
