Two line handstamp in black on cover to Philadelphia, Pa. franked with 1851, 3¢ dull red, horizontal pair (11A), carried from San Francisco and entered the mails with "New York, Ship, Feb 4" cds tying pair; couple cover creases one affecting right stamp and ink spot at bottom, Very Fine appearance, an extremely rare "Via Nicaragua" marking in black.
Estimate; $400 - 600.

Bold red box handstamp on cover to Boston, Mass. franked with 1851, 3¢ dull red, horizontal pair (11A), carried from San Francisco and entered the mails with "New York, Sep 9" cds; minor cover corner wear, Very Fine, this cover left San Francisco on August 16, 1853 and placed in the N.Y. Post Office September 9th.
