Oct. 4, 1922" first day machine cancel on registered cover to Mr. Steyvesant L.R. French at the Harvard Club in New York City, boxed violet registered handstamp on front, violet two line "Myron C. Cox, Postmaster Fremont, Ohio" backstamp, double circle and oval registered backstamps from Fremont (same day), New York (next day and Oct. 6), and the Harvard Club's Oct. 6 receiving backstamp, with letter written by French to the Postmaster dated Oct. 2 with instructions that began with "Enclosed please find $1" yet only 12c appears on the cover; it is likely there were more covers to French, the Martin sale had a very similar registered cover #1215 (to another person in Cincinnati) and this is #1228 so we expect there to be more with this combination, Mike Mellone notes that only 51 first day covers from Fremont Ohio are believed to exist.
