GUERNSEY, "Escadrille D'Aviation Maritime De Guernsey" cachet in blue serves on unfranked picture postcard (view of Elizabeth College at St Peter Port) addressed to Cherbourg datelined "15.3.18", ms "Sce AIR" ("Service Air"), VFrnA French seaplane base was in operation in Guernsey from mid 1917 to late 1918 and was originally manned and equipped out of Cherbourg. The whole station won a Croix de Guerre as a result of its work finding minefields and attacking enemy subs. (Image)
