United States -- 1854 Washington DC official stampless Post Office Department cover with letter to Strong Maine Good, early post office cover along with handwritten complaint letter to Strong Maine postmaster stating "On the 29th Nov you were informed it was reported that the Contractor on route No 26 conveyed the mail in a one horse carriage or wagon instead of a two horse coach. The department not hearing your reply, you will please report on receipt of this, how long the contractor has used this inferior grade of service." (Image1)
