Airmail, 1930, Graf Zeppelin complete. Plate blocks of 6, o.g., $1.30 & $2.60 with one stamp lightly hinged, 65¢ never hinged with hinge mark in ungummed selvage, all with rich colors, each well centered throughout with very few bends or skips in gum that often plagues this issue, a Very Fine and choice set.

1946 Operation Crossroads Atomic Bomb Test Cover. Addressed by Sgt. John B. Armstrong aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga to Los Angeles, Cal., franked with 1946, 6¢ Airmail tied by "U.S. Navy, Fleet Post Office, Jul 1, 1946" duplex with "Atomic Bomb Test, Bikini Atoll" slogan, with original enclosure regarding the postmark and bomb test…They told us yesterday that there would be a special postmark on the letters sent today so be sure and save the envelope. The cancellation will be a Atom Bomb drawing of some sort…Saturday morning around 6:00AM, weather permitting the A Bomb will be dropped the first.; included is Armstrong's "Joint Task Force One - Atomic Bomb Test" participation card and a news clipping of his death mentioning his participation in Operation Crossroads, Very Fine.

Operation Crossroads was a pair of nuclear weapon tests conducted by the United States at Bikini Atoll in mid-1946. The first test was Able. The bomb was named Gilda after Rita Hayworth's character in the 1946 film Gilda, and was dropped from the B-29 Superfortress Dave's Dream of the 509th Bombardment Group on July 1, 1946. It was the first detonation of a nuclear device since the atomic bombing of Nagasaki on August 9, 1945.

Falcon", franked with 1¢ Jefferson pair + 6¢ Apollo 8 (1278+1371) tied by "Kennedy Space Center, Fl., Jul 26, 1971" launch date postmark, additionally franked with 8¢ Space Achievement setenant pair (1435b) tied by "U.S.S. Okinawa (LPH-3), Aug 7, 1971" return postmark, signed by each astronaut David Scott, Al Worden and James Irwin, Very Fine, with 1983 notarized affidavit signed by Scott, Worden and Irwin.
