1880s Elaborate Maine Land Scam Advertising Cover And Contents - In the 1880s N. S. Read purchased 500 acres of mostly bog land and untamed forest in Maine, named it "Lakenwild" and created a promotional campaign to sell lots to unsuspecting buyers. Included is a beautiful 24-page pamphlet, large detailed map with lot availability, lot order blank and return envelope. The envelope used to mail the contents, not surprisingly, came postage due. Mailing envelope has a few faults and toning but the advertising is in nearly perfect condition. Take a look. (Est $100-150) (Image)
