11a The stamp is a 3 cent 1851 imperforate dull red in color (11a). The letter was sent from Boston to Pottsville PA on 10 May (circa 1852) but the address had moved or was temporarily in Philadelphia so the postmaster forwarded it to Philadelphia. In this period forwarding was charged the same as regular postage would be. In this case the forwarding was 5 cents since it was NOT prepaid. They are very attractive postmarks and the Boston postmark is a small Boston ‘PAID’ in grid. A good cancel. Donated by Gordon Eubanks.(Image1)
