Manuscript postmark (Whittlesey 1, R 7) on 1864 3¢ pink entire, indicia uncancelled, Foster correspondence to Eagle Creek, accompanied by original 1868 letter from postmaster Ch. Cutting at Cuttingsville proposing the mails leave Portland on Saturday rather than Monday so that they might arrive in Cuttingsville and the other towns on the route sooner than midweek, cover reduced at right and a couple short edge tears at top, Fine.
Estimate; $150 - 200.

The Cuttingsville Post Office, which was the forerunner of the Union Mills Post Office, operated for seven years only 1867-1872 and 1873-1875. Scarcity Index 7 in Helbock's books.
