A small collection mounted on album pages, all neatly written up covering the 1896 Olympics in Athens, a variety of material is present which includes a stunning registered cover front franked with the 1896 1L-1D Olympic Issue to Germany, stamps tied by "Athens, June 28, 1896" postmarks, plus 25L Olympic tied on cover to Germany, and large size registered cover to Austria franked with 25L Perf. Small Hermes Head + 60L Olympic issue tied by Athens postmark, a great lot for the specialist.

A small collection mounted on album pages, all neatly written up covering the 1906 Olympics in Athens, a variety of material is present which includes couple of low value issued stamps, two proof/essay blocks, few Olympic Picture Postcards, the 1907 Greek New Years Card depicting the 1906 Olympic set (minor toning & stain spots), Greek 25l tied on fragment with Olympic Stadion cancel, condition is very nice overall, a great lot for the specialist, Very Fine.

Worldwide, Olympic Collection, 1908. A small accumulation 8 cards mounted on exhibition pages, all written up covering the 1908 Olympics in London, included is a photo card (some creasing) signed by Martin Sheridan (Gold Medalist in the 1904, 1906 & 1908 Discus Throw, two cards which talk about eyewitness accounts of the Games, "Have just seen the greatest race of the Century, 65 runners competed, it was grand.", a rare photo card to the American J.J. Hayes, the eventual winner of the gold medal for the Marathon Race, cancelled on Aug. 4th, 1908 (roughly two weeks after the Marathon) with written message, "He's the winner but you would hardly know it over here as the other fellow, Dorando is getting all the praise." (This refers to the disqualification of Italian runner Dorando Pietri, who staggered exhausted into the London stadium and collapsed several times, each time with officials coming to his aid. The last 350 meters of the race taking 10 minutes to complete. Due to the aid he received, he was later disqualified and the second finisher, J.J. Hayes was named the Gold Medalist), a great lot for the specialist, Very Fine.

The 1908 Summer Olympics, were an international multi-sport event which was held in 1908 in London, England from 27 April to 31 October 1908. These games were originally scheduled to be held in Rome, but were re-located on financial grounds following a disastrous eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 1906. Lasting a total of 187 days, or 6 months and 4 days, these games were the longest in modern Olympics history.

Worldwide, Olympic Grunewald Stadium, 1913. Privately order 5pf postal card showing the Grunewald Stadium in Berlin with unused Inaugural label affixed, card with small corner clipped, otherwise Very Fine.
Estimate; $200 - 300.

The I.O.C. at the 1912 Stockholm games awarded Berlin the site of the 6th Olympiad. Work on the stadium, the Deutsches Stadion ("German Stadium"), began in 1912 at what was the Grunewald Race Course. It was planned to seat more than 18,000 spectators. On 8 June 1913, the stadium was dedicated with the release of 10,000 pigeons. 60,000 people were in attendance. The games for the 6th Olympiad were later cancelled due to World War I.
